Saleen’s last road car, the S7 Twin Turbo, was built between 2005 and 2009. An updated version of the original S7 supercar, the Twin Turbo was powered by a 7.0-litre V8 engine and could reportedly reach 248mph.

Saleen has confirmed it is working on a new electric car, with plans to reveal the model in full early next year.

The new electric car will be shown for the first time next year

Company boss Steve Saleen said: “We recognise that electric cars are a trend, not a fad, and expect this vehicle category to continue to increase as an automotive option for consumers.The rapid pace of advancements in electric vehicle technology makes our entry into this market sector timely and should expedite completion of this project.”
